Summary: I am going to venture out into the world of texting for this week’s review. The Pope Emoji App Presented by Aleteia and developed by Swyft Media Inc. is a fun and creative way to add life to your texts. If you are a Catholic and you have friends that are Catholic as well you will appreciate this little fun app that is both Android (
) and iOS. It doesn’t even need to be necessary to use, just have fun with them. And best of all this one is FREE. I am giving it full stars,
Facebook, Twitter, Android and iOS, virtually all of the communication platforms allow for emojis and animated gifs like the one above to help us communicate either in shorthand, or just express how we are feeling better.
The Pope Emoji was developed ahead of the 2015 Papal visit to the United States. It was a happy occasion.
Be aware, however, that not all the stickers are free, there is an in-app purchase on both the iOS and Android versions.
The ones that are included in the app (like the last two are great static stickers that you can email, chat send and more.
There are some fun emojis that anticipated the pontiff’s activities when he arrived. For example, the emojis show the pope in a cab, eating a Philly cheese steak, visiting the Statue of Liberty, playing American football, and even taking a selfie. (Which is pretty common). While the app was created for the visit, it has lived on. And our Catholic Chats will never ever be the same.

Is it worth the $1.39 in App purchase? It’s a fun app to have handy to share quick icons. Perhaps you don’t have enough conversations about the Pope to warrant spending money on specific emojis, but I think for me it is just good clean fun!
How do you emojify an iMessage?
With iOS 10, “emojification” works similarly to emoji recommendations.
- Type an iMessage text field.
- Tap the Emoji button on the keyboard.
- Tap on a word that’s underlined in yellow to replace it with its corresponding emoji.
- Keep tapping words underlined in yellow until you’ve “emojified” everything you want.
- Tap the Send button. (Looks like an upward arrow)
- With emojification, you can convert as many — or as few — words to emoji as you like.

How do you add the keyboard?
In iOS 8+
To activate a new keyboard:
- Tap the app icon to open it.
- Then, go to your iOS Settings
- Then go to General > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard.
- Just below the suggested keyboards section is where you’ll find a list of installed third-party keyboards.
- Tap on the name of the keyboard you’d like to activate, and enable the languages you want to use (assuming the keyboard allows for multiple languages).
